Culture
Many Northwest Indiana towns originally developed as havens for Chicago artists. So, it’s no surprise that the area has a strong appreciation of the arts. Numerous galleries are located throughout the area that display works by world-renowned artists as well as samplings from Northwest Indiana’s diverse local art scene.
For live entertainment, there are multiple venues that attract top musicians and entertainers, while more intimate community theaters and symphonies thrive throughout the region. For example, Munster’s Center for Visual and Performing Arts is home to the award-winning Theater at the Center, South Shore Arts and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. It also offers facilities for meetings, banquets, weddings and other events.
A job at Methodist also puts you within 70 miles of three of the nation’s top 20 universities, University of Chicago, Northwestern University and University of Notre Dame, that offer their own art, culture, and sporting events. Northwest Indiana is home to Valparaiso University, the nation’s largest independent Lutheran university, as well as branches of Indiana University and Purdue University.
And don’t forget, Chicago’s Loop with its remarkable museums, thriving theater scene, world renown Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera symphony and The Second City are just minutes away via the Chicago Skyway.
